After missing last week, Aaron & Ophelia hit the Copa Bar studio at Urban Mo’s in Hillcrest to get caught up on all things ‘gay’ and ‘gab-worthy.’ Trying to recount this week’s drunken bead-bomb that was Mardi Gras, Ophelia finally admitted she’s no spring chicken but held her own out partying with the rest of the young queens. The discussion went all over the place, from San Diego’s mayoral candidates and taking a Car2Go to Coronation to local community member Allan Spyere‘s release from INS detention, the ongoing Fawkbook changes and this weekend’s BIG Oscar party extravaganza eleganzas. We’re excited about several upcoming events that we’ll be going LIVE at, including MARYAH’s annual Poker Tournament at Eden and, of course, Dining Out For Life. Come April 26, where will you be dining out to fight AIDS? Read More

Aaron and Ophelia welcomed the fabulous Eddie Reynoso and Stefan Chicote (of the Urban Mo’s/Baja Betty’s/Gossip Grill fam) to our Brass Rail studio to talk about a topic hot in local media circles: erecting a 65 ft. rainbow flag at Normal St. & University Ave. in Hillcrest. Eddie and Stefan are part of the the Hillcrest Pride Flag committee hoping the flag will become a reality. With drinks in hand, the two shared the overall concept, its location, process, purpose and fielded some pointed questions posed by both Aaron & Ophelia who aren’t entirely on board with the project. Eddie & Stefan did a great job giving their opinions on why they feel the flag is a needed monument designed to celebrate the residents & culture that have made Hillcrest what it is today. What do you think? Does Hillcrest need the Pride Flag? Leave your comments below. Read More
