This week, Aaron & Ophelia hosted two funny f*cks at our Brass Rail studio, local comedians Sarah Burford and Sean Wherley, co-producers & hosts of Laugh Out Proud. Laugh Out Proud is San Diego’s only gay-produced comedy show featuring the region’s best ‘out’ and allied comedians, held the 2nd Thursday of every month at Martinis Above Fourth. Sean and Sarah shared with us why they started Laugh Out Proud and how it helps showcase local gay talent that are often overlooked on the mainstream comedy circuit. They’re a fun, sarcastic and funny as hell team who you can see do their thing live on February 9th at MA4 starting at 8p. Cover is free…but please, people, don’t forget to tip the talent!

With Jerimiah galavanting around the U.S. and a miscommunication with our first guest lesbian forcing the panel to be short two co-hosts, the remaining They Said crew had plenty to talk about, and rightfully so, as both Ian and Courtney sat in awe over Alejandra’s voluptuous-ity! After getting all the niceties out of the way, they dove headfirst into a full list of topics that included POTUS’ SOTU, Cynthia Nixon’s “choice” of bisexuality, RuPaul’s Drag Race (#TeamChad), the Super Bowl, Madonna, the Muppets retort to Fox News, prenuptial agreements and calls to 911. Then, Courtney put San Diego media on ‘alert’ regarding the mudslinging over San Diego’s mayoral race. Finally, Ian finished off with some upcoming events. Don’t forget to head out and support San Diego American Flag Football this season and Dining Out For Life this April.

Still basking in the glow of our fabulous interview with drag superstar Chad Michaels, Ophelia & Aaron went completely off-the-cuff for this week’s “LIVE From” at our amazing Copa Bar studio at Urban Mo’s in Hillcrest. We talked everything from animals and drinking games, to Cynthia Nixon, Super Bowl, local sports like Flag Football and Softball and a little wrap-up on the SD Pride community advisory committee hullabaloo. Ian, Courtney & Jerimiah welcomed Executive Producer Aaron to the They Said panel at our Brass Rail studio as the resident ‘transian’ (trans + lesbian) to dish this week’s list of news & topics. Hot on the list, of course, was Courtney’s favorite sport, football, and the upcoming Super Bowl. Of course, Aaron & Ian were more excited about Madonna’s half-time performance & the commercials, which now have a bracket of their own for all your Super Bowl party fun. From NFL to college, the crew discussed the rather awkwardly-announced passing of former Penn State head coach Joe Paterno. Then, they talked Oscars, Starbucks offering beer & wine, same-sex marriage in Washington state, Cynthia Nixon’s “choice to be bisexual” and our ongoing search for They Said’s resident lesbian. This week’s HSSS.tv LIVE from Urban Mo’s in San Diego’s gayborhood got down & dirty, after 5 o’clock shots were served. Aaron & Ophelia recapped their weekends of cocktails, trips to Lakeside and volunteering before diving waist deep into the rippled waters that are San Diego Pride. It’s no secret Ophelia has been one of the most outspoken critics of Pride’s seemingly endless clusterfuck of tweaks, turns, modifications & justifications and she wasted no time giving her 10 cents on recent news surrounding yet more changes to this year’s Pride festival that will monetarily impact several community organizations. Aaron also questioned Pride’s commitment and reciprocity to other organizations that have directly served them in past years. After letting that Pride dust settle, we moved on to L.A.’s pending law making condoms mandatory in porn movies shot within the county, and the great Girl Scout Cookie controversy, which Aaron detailed in his first blog for GuySpy.com. With Coronation XL right around the corner, Aaron & Ophelia had the pleasure of chatting with the current reigning monarchs of the Imperial Court de San Diego, Emperor Allan Spyere and Empress Erika Odessa, at our Brass Rail studio. After Allan & Erika filled us in on the who, what, when, where & why of the ICSD and their 40 years of good deeds in the community, we got to chat with the candidates running for Emperor & Empress XL, the handsome Tom Dickerson and the fabulous Lady Ajax. Both shared their goals and ambitions for their reigns in the 40th year of the Imperial Court de San Diego. It’ll be a weekend full of events, pomp & circumstance, culminating in the crowning of the 40th monarchs at a gala reception taking place at the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley. They’re baaaaaaack! They Said hit the Brass Rail studio square table for their first chat session of 2012. Noticeably absent was our lesbian voice, Kelly, who during hiatus made the difficult decision to leave the show permanently to focus efforts on caring for her family. The entire HSSS team will miss her but know she’ll be back to fill in when she can. Courtney got Ian, Jerimiah & Alejandra talking about their time off, including family functions, new jobs, new loves & new year’s resolutions. Of course, it wouldn’t be They Said without a little Charger chat, Gaga gab or differences of opinions on everything from marriage to manscaping. This week, we welcomed new Producer Louis who’s taking over for Producer Kurt on They Said, so he can dedicate 100% to wrangling Aaron & Ophelia. And, we’re on a quest to find our new lesbian co-host. Back at our Copa Bar studio inside Urban Mo’s Bar & Grill in the heart of San Diego’s gayborhood, Ophelia & Aaron recapped their holiday hiatus with tales of motorcycle mishaps, Palm Springs travels, New Year’s Eve kisses & new loves. Aaron introduced his new BF, Curtis, to the HSSS family and Ophelia regaled the live audience with stories of couch surfing, Charger the parakeet and lusting after cigar daddies at the Tool Shed in Palm Springs. The topic turned to one of our favorites of 2011, the religulous Christwire.org, whose legions of faithful followers have dubbed HSSS.tv part of their “Axis of Evil.” Trying to convert our fabulous viewers, Christ himself sent us some swag to give away, an autographed copy of his new Christwire Handbook (the 10th commenter below wins the prize.) Finally, we had a couple of birthdays to celebrate: Ken’s cute little nephew celebrating 6 years on earth & the incomparably intoxicated Producer Kurt, who’s obviously turning 49! Sit back, turn up the volume & get caught up on all the HSSS shenanigans.

We’re baaaaack! Our first webcast of 2012 at the fabulous Brass Rail studio and we were pleased to welcome the amazing Chris Tina Bruce to the HSSS hot seat. Sans Ophelia’s signature intro, Aaron tried (and failed) to welcome all you viewers and audience members before diving in to questions with Chris Tina.
