LIVE from Urban Mo’s 5/11/12

This week at our Copa Bar studio at Urban Mo’s, Aaron & Ophelia kicked it off with a birthday wish to Producer Joey and a quick recap of the week’s events. Then, moving on to the big news of President Obama affirming his support for same-sex marriage, Ophelia felt it was no big deal while the two debated what it will mean moving forward, pre & post election. Then, the chat got heated when it turned to social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) with Ophelia believing internet users want simplicity and are moving away from Facebook back to Yahoo & AOL, while Aaron disagreed. What’s your opinion? Are social media platforms like Facebook on the way out in exchange for simpler, more niche options like Pinterest & Flipboard? Leave your comments below & we’ll read ‘em on the show. Happy Mothers’ Day!

They Said 5/8/12

With Amber on vacay, the fabulous DJ Kiki joined Ian, Alejandra & Dustin for this week’s big They Said chat fest at the Brass Rail. After wishing Alejandra and very happy birthday, the panel tackled some hot-button topics in the news including the tragic passing of Junior Seau and Whitney Houston which lead to an interesting discussion on honoring deceased icons that may have had personal demons while they lived. They also talked in-depth about Tanning Mom, an overweight woman’s lawsuit against Southwest Airlines, the possibility of a “love” drug, a 6-year-old suspended for singing LMFAO‘s “I’m Sexy & I Know It,” the high school student who brandished a stun gun to protect himself from bullies, San Diego becoming the first city in the nation to rename a street for LGBT rights pioneer Harvey Milk + so much more. Don’t forget it’s Mothers’ Day this weekend!
