LIVE from Urban Mo’s 10/14/11

October 16, 2011  |  Episodes, gay san diego, News  |  No Comments

The crew braved our Copa Bar studio at Urban Mo‘s sans Producer Joey who’s been busy with work to chat up this week’s hot topics & shit that makes us go “hmmmm!” After a quick interruption (and shot) with the fabulous Gouda, Aaron & Ophelia talked about big weekend highlights that included all the men & women in San Diego for the AFCSL Autumn Classic softball tournament…and the fun that ensued at the bars each night the players were in town. Then, discussing the new OWN show Oprah’s Lifeclass, we talked about “ego” and how we think we’ve let our egos get the best of us. After putting our egos in check, we talked about the Occupy Wall Street and Occupy San Diego movements and the horrible mass murder in the Seal Beach hair salon, which certainly put Miss Ophelia on guard at her “day job” hoping none of her clients had angry exes. Big welcome to all the bears in town for BearQuake 2011 and the Mr. SoCal Cub & Bear contest at Rich’s on Saturday, October 15. Hope to see everyone at the Hillcrest Hoedown on Sunday, October 16 where our own Ophelia will be serving up beer and boobs, er, booze in the liquor garden!  Read More

LIVE with Patrick Wallace from ANoteToMyKid.com 10/12/11

October 12, 2011  |  Episodes, gay san diego, News  |  No Comments

This week at our Brass Rail studio, Aaron and Ophelia were joined by Patrick Wallace, co-founder and Executive Director of ANoteToMyKid.com  In just a few short months, Patrick has turned an idea into a movement – that idea being parents expressing unconditional love for their kids through letters. Inspired by the love and support of their parents, co-founders Patrick and Michael Volpatt created ANoteToMyKid.com to provide parents of LGBT and questioning youth, or any parent for that matter, with a platform for expressing this unconditional love. Since the site launched, they’ve received many notes from parents across the country, to their children of all ages – from infants still in the womb to grown sons and daughters living happy, full lives a distance away. Get to know Patrick and learn more about this site and how you can get involved in this movement of unconditional love. You a parent? Send in a note…and tell them you saw it on HSSS.tv.  Read More

Ophelia looking as stunning as ever, braved her raging allergies just to spend time with Aaron at our Copa Bar studio at the fabulous Urban Mo’s to give some lip service on the big news & hot topics of the week. After Ophelia regaled us with her Palm Springs rodeo & adult bookstore exploits, Aaron recapped his weekend spent with good friends at old haunts and a trip to the best farmers market in the city where the pumpkins were ginormous. Then, we dove in to the headlines, first giving an HSSS-style memoriam to Steve Jobs, then dishing the San Diego freeway shooter and road rage, oral sex and throat cancer, Occupy Wall Street and job automation, the 71 year-old granny busted for schtuping her boy-toy in the back seat of a car and the Texas girl with Down Syndrome voted homecoming queen.
