LIVE from Alexander Salazar Fine Art 1/28/11

January 29, 2011  |  Episodes, events, gay san diego  |  No Comments

The crew converged on downtown San Diego for a “LIVE From” webcast complete with $100K works of art…and a circumcision, of the fine art variety. Aaron & Ophelia took over Alexander Salazar’s Fine Art studio at 7th & Broadway and settled in among the paintings, sculptures and jewelry before getting down and dirty with hot topics including: Facebook and Twitter and being too busy to do either, circumcision (of course,) San Diego’s next Mayoral campaign, tattoos, sex both in and out of relationships, the recent Paintball attacks in and around Hillcrest, American Idol and this season’s TV hits & misses. The two finished up with some events including the Young Professionals Council‘s Burlesque at Thin, San Diego Magazine‘s 50 People to Watch party at FLUXX and Family Matter‘s Big Community Yard Sale coming up on March 26th. If you’re planning a spring cleaning, donate all your unwanted clothes, toys, accessories, electronics, etc. to help LGBT families. Read More

I think I need an Inter(net)vention…or not

January 27, 2011  |  events, gay san diego, hesaid  |  1 Comment

Yes, I’ve received your emails…and comments…and Facebook posts. And I agree, my blogs have been, let’s just say, lacking. While I admit to getting on Ophelia‘s tail about keeping up on her ‘blogging’ I, myself, have left my lil He Said blog space somewhat dusty. I promise it’s not without reasons, many of which you probably won’t care about. My absence of blogtivity these past few months on HSSS.TV isn’t because I haven’t been in front of the computer. Hashem knows that’s not the case. Try tearing me away from Facebook or Twitter and see what happens. But, that comes easy for me because social media is a huge part of my work. I’m online every day, all day. Now, add to that a twice-weekly talk show, PRing clients, other print & online writing gigs, being at The Center six days a week, working with Stonewall Citizens Patrol and countless other social & charity events and fundraisers, and well, Aaron’s just a busy boy. Realistically though, if I focused as much attention on this blog as I do sassing up my status updates, I wouldn’t be fielding the hate mail and the point of this post would be moot. So, perhaps an intervention is in order. Not in that A&E cameras following your every move for an ambush reality show sorta way. Just more a, “betch needs a tech-free vacation” way. Some call it going off-line for a while. I’m calling it an Inter(net)vention. Read More

LIVE with Rob Lucas 1/25/11

January 25, 2011  |  Episodes, gay san diego  |  No Comments

Thanks to Jake’s on 6th, the HSSS crew are turning into quite the oenophiles. Last night’s cabernet was a tangy, flavorful accompaniment to our guest, the tangy, flavorful Rob Lucas of Modern Aperture Photography. If you remember Ophelia and Aaron talking about (and Stampp Corbin showing) those sexy photos taken last year, well this is the man who took them. He’s a true talent behind the lens with a passion for capturing people at their best. Get to know Rob and, even better, get in front of his camera lens for some updated photos. Rob’s running a special for the month of February, $95 for a one-hour shoot that includes your selection of 10 edited, digital shots…your Grindr & Scruff accounts will thank us. Read More

LIVE from Top of the Park 1/21/11

January 22, 2011  |  Episodes, gay san diego  |  No Comments

Braving the frigid 78 degree San Diego weather, the HSSS crew hit the roof of the Park Manor Suites next to beautiful Balboa Park to webcast “alfresco-style” from Top of the Park, the favorite Friday rooftop happy hour locale in the gayborhood. Aaron and Ophelia have been busy out and about, hitting events & fundraisers all over the city…and the year just started. Ophelia attended Eden‘s over-packed SINdustry Night kick-off featuring the vocal ‘stylings’ of Bravo TV‘s most fabulous unmarried housewife hot mess – Kim Zolciak – and had quite the dramatic adventure, complete with a Security intervention and a few choice words. Hot topics discussed included cheating partners & friends, the GOP’s symbolic repeal of Healthcare, and The Center‘s ongoing commitment to bridging the LGBT generation gap with the launch of two new 20-somethings Discussion Groups. It’s Coronation weekend and Ophelia’s busy readying new hair and frocks for her grand entrance, so expect some photos of the crew to be uploaded from the event looking KA-YOOT! And, we may just have some exclusive first interviews of the crowned winners…stay tuned. Read More

LIVE with Empress Candidates Erika Odessa & Justice Paige Counce 1/18/11

January 19, 2011  |  Episodes, gay san diego  |  No Comments

From our studio space at Jake’s on 6th Wine Bar, the HSSS crew enjoyed some vino (thanks to 1/2 off bottles all night) while getting to the know the candidates vying for the title of Empress XXXIX of the Imperial Court de San Diego. Erika Odessa & Justice Paige Counce joined Aaron & Ophelia in the hot seat and shared why they feel they deserve the title…and the crown. Aaron got quite an education on Imperial Court history and protocol, thanks to two-time reigning Empress, Ophelia Later, the supercalafragalistic red spoon double sapphire star monarch who is the only Empress of the past 38 in San Diego allowed to wear her hair down. The Imperial Court de San Diego Coronation XXXIX takes place Saturday, January 22 at 6PM at the San Diego LGBT Community Center. Tickets are $40 (GA) and $65 (VIP) available online or at the door. All proceeds benefit the charities of the ICSD. Read More
