This “Best of He Said / sHe Said LIVE“ is one of our favorite interviews to date, as we streamed LIVE aboard Chris Shaw’s boat and chatted with the man himself. Originally webcast in July, 2010.
Today’s webcast almost didn’t happen when Aaron was sure we’d be in a torrential downpour on a canoe somewhere in the middle of the Pacific and thought we should “change venues.” But, alas, the always amazing Chris Shaw, Mayor of Hillcrest and truly one of our city’s most respected and dedicated ‘funtrepreneurs,’ showed the entire HSSS his signature hospitality aboard his beautiful boat docked in the marina – tequila included. We recapped our Fourth of July weekends and Chris shared with us his business roots that have, today, culminated in the successful Gayborhood establishments Urban Mo’s, Baja Betty’s and Gossip Grill. Chris has been instrumental in helping put on this year’s San Diego Pride parade & festival, July 17-18. We had so much fun rockin’ & swaying on the boat that we didn’t need any dramamine…at least we don’t think. It was an amazing milestone as the crew celebrated our 50th LIVE webcast from our favorite local Top Cheffer’s restaurant, R Gang Eatery in Hillcrest. Chef Rich Sweeney treated us to some of his world-famous tater tots while Aaron & Ophelia dished the weekly deets, HSSS-style. After recapping some busy, drag & drunk filled weekends, we talked news and hot topics including Willow & Bristol Palin‘s anti-gay Facebook rant, more Palin family nonsense, men shooting TVs because of Palin nonsense, C-SPAN’s live TV coverage of the upcoming Prop 8 hearings, gay NASCAR fans, the ‘Royal’ engagement and a heated debate on who’s hotter: Prince William or Prince Harry. We finished off with a weekend of events like Gay 4 Good helping the homeless at the San Diego Rescue Mission, America’s Next Top Bottom contest at Bacchus House, and the Transgender Day of Remembrance at the Center and the big San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival which Chef Rich is competing in for a shot at $50K and the title of “Chef of the Fest.” And, while Mercedes on Glee is happy with her Or-Ida’s in a Ziplock container, we’ll stick with the R Gang Philly Tots. OH MY CHER, they’re like sex! We’re on hiatus to celebrate Thanksgiving next week, but be on the look out for some Best Of webisodes and never before seen clips of He Said sHe Said in action. For his first real interview since leaving the long running and now defunct Gay & Lesbian Times, Todd Klein joined us in-studio to chat about his life, from small town farm boy to big city media man and what he’s doing now. Currently a sales executive for Gay San Diego, the new LGBT community bi-weekly newspaper published by Uptown News, Todd is forging ahead in the local publishing scene with a fresh, new outlook and that signature sweet personality. Aaron & Ophelia got some very ‘sexy’ deets from Todd…let’s just say, you’ll never think of Palm Springs the same way again.
After a wonderful Veterans Day holiday off, the HSSS crew took a trip to naughtyville for this week’s “LIVE from” webcast at the corporate headquarters of F Street adult bookstores. It’s a fantasyland, for adults. F Street has been helping the art of intimacy since 1974 and we definitely figured out why. Aaron & Ophelia shared all sorts of toys, videos & accessories designed to spice up your love life, some that would even make Sexy Santa blush. We dished the latest news, hot topics, events & activities both in an out of the gayborhood like the San Diego Bay Food & Wine Festival, Meatball Turkey Day Dinner at The Center, San Diego Beer Week and the Transgender Day of Remembrance while Ophelia demonstrated many of the toys’ proper use.
