San Diego District 3 Councilman Todd Gloria joined us LIVE in-studio for an up-close and personal chat fest that only Aaron & Ophelia could swing. We talked politics, parking, transportation, Balboa Park, small business, Chargers, dating and drag queens. Ophelia debuted some new hair and poor Todd had no idea what he was in for. Interesting, informative and funnier than hell, Todd was a great sport and we’re excited at what’s ahead for this driven, dynamic local leader.
It’s the end of summer and seriously, it doesn’t really feel like we’ve had one. Maybe I’ve just been so busy that it’s completely crept by me. But, I already feel the season changing – we’re moving into shorter days, longer nights and the homestretch to the holidays. Unreal. This summer has been a blast though. We’ve had parties and festivals galore, some DVR worthy off-season TV like Top Chef, True Blood, Real Housewives of New Jersey, Big Brother and Whale Wars and several major events that draw seemingly everyone from Sausalito to South Africa to our little slice of west coast paradise. But, don’t think we’re done yet. September is another month full of parties, events, festivals and fundraisers that, if you’re smart, you’ll enjoy before you break out the boxes of gaudy bobbles and settle in for the holiday hibernation. Oh, and don’t forget, this year especially, EVERY vote couts. If you’re not registered to vote, do it now! You can even vote by mail from the comfort of your own home. I don’t care how you do it, just make sure you do. VOTING MATTERS.
San Diego Gay Rodeo Director and Mr. IGRA 2010 2nd Runner Up Kelly Gilliland was in studio with Aaron and Ophelia to ‘Cowboy Up’ for The Golden State Gay Rodeo Association – Greater San Diego Chapter. The GSGRA-GSDC will be hosting LGBTs and allies from around the globe starting September 10 for a big gay rodeo weekend chock-full of some serious horsey business with a dash a camp. Kelly filled us in on what the Gay Rodeo is and what attendees can expect throughout the weekend including pool parties, rodeo events, dance parties, awards ceremonies and a Boots ‘n Briefs. San Diego Gay Rodeo stretches from Hillcrest to the Sheraton Mission Valley to the Lakeside Rodeo grounds. And, there’s a shuttle that’ll take you there, no driving needed. Yee-haw y’all!
