They’re baaaaack! And a little diff’rent. They Said returned to the fabulous Brass Rail studio for their brand of talk – where opinions matter & sexual orientation does not. Joining Alejandra, Ian, Amber & guest moderator Ophelia is the new straight guy on panel, Dustin Santillan, who hit the ground running without missing a beat. After recapping the month-long hiatus & Easter-Passover weekend debauchery, they dove in to headlines & topics including: Whitney Houston’s autopsy findings, gay ‘unfriendly’ travel destinations, the scandal surrounding the gay couple arrested aboard the Altantis Cruise docked in Dominica, Dinah Shore & White Party weekend, Miss Gay Mexico International competition, Hudson Taylor appearing at Martinis Above Fourth and the countdown to Dining Out For Life. The crew is glad to be back. Keep watching for some fun new segments & guest panelists in the weeks ahead. Read More
Aaron & Ophelia wasted no time getting their gab on at Urban Mo’s this week. Producer Jay, Production Assistant Nicolas & La Lee were serving fierce behind-the-scenes realness, taking photos, prompting cues & trying desperately to keep Ophelia in check…but failing by most standards. We talked White Party weekend, Easter Sunday and Easter baskets for Family Matters, Car2Bar (Car2Go), the Lakeside Rodeo, eventful trips to Costco, favorite brands of toilet paper, San Diego Flag Football VIP Tent shenanigans and soooo much more. Big shout out to Eddie Rey & Rick Cervantes of the Mo’s family who stuck around to watch the HSSS.tv madness, in-person. Read More
Back at Urban Mo‘s after a little break last week, Aaron & Ophelia hit our Copa Bar studio to dish the happenings, events, news & gossip over a few cocktails which included a little fruit fest courtesy of Edible Arrangements. Aaron learned just how ‘handy’ Miss Ophelia is as she makes plans to dump Cox Communications for the the more affordable – and apparently superior to digital quality – HDTV antenna. After updates on a week of outings & events, Bachelor auctions, drinking excursions and “safer sex” PSAs, we got quite the San Diego LGBT history lesson courtesy of Ophelia (with help from Chris Shaw) who reminisced about the Hillcrest haunts of yesteryear. She should have her own section in the Lambda Archives. We wrapped up by talking about one big, fun foodie event coming up April 26, Dining Out For Life. With more than 100 participating restaurants, bars, coffee shops & retailers agreeing to donate a minimum of 25% of their sales that day to help support The Center‘s HIV/AIDS services, it’s important to grab friends, family, frenemies & fans and dine out for breakfast, lunch & dinner. From R Gang Eatery and Babbo’s Bar & Grill to Mo’s, Betty’s, Gossip Grill, Which Wich, The Mission + more they still need volunteers to help with the event. Go here to sign up as a Restaurant Host or Ambassador. As Todd Gloria said, “that day, calories don’t count.” Dine Out. Fight AIDS. Read More
