We couldn’t have picked a more perfect season to launch this here little web site. School’s out, it’s just before Pride, days are longer, weather’s turning from gray to YAY and everyone’s ready to hit the beaches and pools for summer fun. There’s so much ‘gay’ going on in America’s Finest City that, often, I’m so overwhelmed with the sheer volume of new places to go to, parties to check out and fundraisers to attend that, inevitably, I forget some things that are truly He Said-worthy. But when I do remember all that ‘stuff’ I want to share with you, I’ve got quick fingers (and a blog) so you’ll be informed and up-to-date, AHizz-style, in between our weekly webcasts.

Hard Rock Hotel San Diego Launches ‘Pride Rocks’ Package

I love the beautiful Rana Kay, Hard Rock Hotel San Diego‘s Director of Public Relations, and she’s been hard at work putting together a package at the hotel that’s just for da gays. Not only is HRH SD the official hotel partner of this year’s San Diego LGBT Pride Festival (July 17-18) but the hotel is launching its exclusive Pride Rocks package that’s available anytime through June 1, 2011 (based on availability.) And, what’s better, for every Pride Rocks package that’s booked between now and June 2011, the hotel will donate $20 to the new Harvey Milk Foundation, San Diego Pride’s charity of choice.

Perfect for out-of-towners or ‘staycationing’ (gawd…that word) San Diegans, the Pride Rocks package starts at $219/night in one of the sleek, swanky Hard Rock Studios. Guests will also receive a $20 “anything you want credit” which can be used at the hotel’s retro-cool Maryjane’s diner, Rock Spa, world-class nightlife venues Float and 207 or for room service or in-room movies.

As the official hotel sponsor of San Diego LGBT Pride, Hard Rock Hotel San Diego will support several local events throughout the year including the July 1 Pride Out at the Park Padres Post Tailgate event (the very day Ophelia & I will be webcasting LIVE from the hotel) and the annual Pride appreciation holiday dinner party. HRH SD is also participating in both the Parade and the Festival. Thanks HRH SD, you truly do RAWK!

The Royalty Group Hosts ‘Hard Tea’ at the Andaz San Diego

Yes, I love my ‘El Ay’ boos. I’ve known several of The Royalty Group (TRG) founders for years…and boy, there are some stories we could tell. First, it was the sick-hawt High Tea event during last year’s San Diego Pride. Then, it was the mega-hawt Desert Tea by the Pool at the kitschy-kool Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs during this year’s White Party. Now, TRG’s Pancho Mabante, Justin David, Rob Dorman and Jeffrey Kurt Thompson (aka Big Daddy) are heading back to San Diego for what will most definitely be the ‘it’ party of Pride weekend: Hard Tea at the Andaz San Diego Hotel (formerly the Ivy Hotel.)

This year, Hard Tea will be a multi-level, multi-venue event. Starting at 11AM on Saturday, July 17, mix & mingle, relax, drink, swim, dance – or just blend in with the rest of the pretty – on the Ivy Rooftop pool deck until the party moves downstairs to the two-level Ivy Nightclub & Bar for further drinking, dancing and debauchery (behave, people.) And check this, joining TRG as DJ and host for Hard Tea is hunky mixmaster Bill Bouvier who will be one of three DJs spinning music throughout the day.

You can get your tickets beforehand from any one of the event’s hosts (if you know them, hit ‘em up.) To purchase $30 pre-sale tickets, email RoyaltyGroupLa@gmail.com and they will invoice you via PayPal. A (very) limited amount of tickets will be released at the door for $40. Mark my words, Hard Tea will be the party to be and be seen at during San Diego Pride. And, it’s guaranteed shirtless mancandy – sans the attitude – all celebrating what the weekend’s about anyway…PRIDE!

MARYAH Hosts 2nd Annual Poker Invitational & Casino Night

The fantastic Richard Woods, Mike Paganelli and a great group of other local real estate agents and brokers, known as Metro Area Real Estate Professionals for Youth Adult Housing (MARYAH) are hosting their 2nd Annual Poker Invitational & Casino Night to support the San Diego LGBT Community Center’s Youth Housing Project. We’re talking Texas Hold ‘em, Blackjack, Craps and maybe even a little Roulette action if you’re lucky.

On Friday, June 18 from 6 to 11PM at The Abbey (2825 Fifth Avenue) you can belly up to a table and use your stategery to count some cards, or simply rely on the luck of the game to come out on top. Food and drinks will be at the ready and the evening’s winners will be taking home some insanely amazing prizes. Tickets start at $75 and are available for purchase online at MARYAHCasinoNight.org.
