This week, Aaron, Ophelia & the HSSS crew took a break from our regular Urban Mo’s studio location to visit the brand new home of Mama’s Kitchen, one of San Diego’s most beloved social service organizations that provides healthy, nutritious meals to those living with HIV, AIDS and cancer. Their lovely new 11,000 sq ft facility on Home Avenue now gives them the ability to prepare, cook & bag food for not only current clients, but many more in need. We got a behind-the-scenes tour of their new digs, including Mama’s Pantry, and Alberto’s extra-large office, and discussed their upcoming event, Mama’s Pie in the Sky – the annual pie sale starting on October 3. Then, we buckled down to share our Blackout 2011 experiences, the big Big Brother season finale and what we’re excited for in the upcoming fall TV season. We finished off with some fun events including a big birthday party fundraiser for Stonewall Citizens Patrol, return of some Rodeo fun at Urban Mo’s, Matchgame at the Hole to benefit our AIDS Walk team + so much more. Thanks to Alberto & Denise for being such gracious hosts. If you’ve got some spare time and want something constructive to do, volunteer for Mama’s Kitchen – you’ll be glad you did.
